Sterilization and Safety
To protect not only our staff but also our patients, we wear masks, gloves, and other protective garb during your visits to our office. We also make sure that our exam rooms and all the equipment and tools they contain are cleaned and sterilized in accordance with the requirements of the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). We also make sure that our staff and patients are appropriately protected when we use X-Ray equipment or high-intensity light. While the dosages we use are well below the minimums established by the ADA and CDC, we are very careful to protect everyone involved from unnecessary exposures.

Hygiene
While a good percentage of patients who visit us are here for repair and reconstruction of their teeth, many of those visits could have been avoided through proper, regular maintenance. An integral part of maintaining and retaining your teeth for your entire life is, of course, daily brushing and flossing. Additional maintenance, in the form of plaque and tartar removal on a regular basis, is also important for long-term dental health. The number of times a year you visit us depends upon the condition of your teeth and your individual needs.
During a regular checkup visit, we will clean your teeth of buildup which has occurred since your last visit. We will then check all your teeth for decay and breakdown of any restorations you may already have. We check the condition of your gums (flossing and brushing correctly not only keeps your teeth clean, it also keep your gums healthy), not only for pockets around the teeth, but also for lesions and other problems. Some of the cleaning work is done with the traditional hand-held instruments, but we also use ultrasonic cleaners which, through the use of very high frequency sound waves, breaks up the plaque and tartar, in places that traditional tools cannot reach. Each cleaning/descaling visit is concluded with a polishing and flossing to give your teeth their best possible appearance.

Cosmetic Services
We provide a broad spectrum of cosmetic services. These services include re-shaping, color-keyed fillings, filling gaps, porcelain veneers, crowns, and bridgework. We also provide home bleaching kits as well as in-office intense-light bleaching, as appropriate. Below are some images that show the "before and after" of some of these procedures.

Crowns
Crowns are used to replace heavily damaged or brittle, cracking teeth. Crowns are usually made of metal, covered with porcelain, and once put in place, match the color and shape of the tooth they replace. We can work with you to put crowns in to restore your smile and your comfort.

Bridges
A bridge uses surrounding teeth and bone structures to replace and hold in place cosmetic replacements for missing teeth. It helps keep remaining teeth in place, as well as prevents bone in your jaws from deteriorating. We can work with you to install bridges as needed.

Implants
Implants are basically small holding devices which are placed in the jaw. These “bolts” act as anchors which can support a new man-made tooth which replaces a lost one, or can become part of the foundation for dentures or other appliances. We work closely with oral surgeons to assure correct placement of implants for reconstructive and cosmetic work we do in our own office.

Dentures
In cases where tooth or bone loss has progressed to the point a bridge cannot be used, our team can provide you with dentures. Dentures can be either “partial”, replacing several missing teeth with cosmetic replicas, or “full”, replacing all the teeth in both upper and lower jaws. Current techniques and technologies allow us to provide you with cosmetic replacements which are almost completely indiscernible from the real thing. In addition these new appliances make you much more comfortable, and return your ability to eat things you’ve had to avoid.

Children's Dentistry
It’s almost never too early to have your children come in for an exam to assure that their teeth are healthy and growing in properly. In the case of a playground or sports accident, we are ready to help restore you child’s smile to its former cuteness, using the same techniques we use on adults.
Most of the staff at Dr. Chui’s office have our own children, and we understand your concerns. We work with you and your child to make your child’s visit pleasant, and sometimes even fun. We make use of language and other techniques to reassure your child and help them relax during their visit.
We try to remove the mystery (mystery can be scary!) around the procedures, by using a technique we call “Tell, Show, Do”. In this technique we “Tell” the child why they are visiting, then “Show” them demonstrations and examples of what we are going to do, then we “Do”. As we use this technique we also work to use language which isn’t scary.
For instance, we never use the words “pain” or “shot”. Instead, we’ll use words like “uncomfortable” or “numb juice”. In addition, it has not been unknown for a child to assist us by being allowed to press a button or flip a switch here and there. We also take the time to do things like show the kids their own teeth X-rays, if that has been part of the procedure. X-rays fascinate everyone, young and old!
Also, in case you were wondering, we offer the same comforting services to adults who may be a bit nervous about their own visits. Just ask!
